They just sound really good and well rounded. For starters these are a full over the ear headset where all my other headsets are on the ear, never really liked over the ear ones due to heat. The audio reproduction is clean, and crisp. But then if you alter the soundstage on a headphone, they really aren't monitor anymore, so Audio Technica didn't provide that ability, I'm sure on purpose. The small volume buttons are hard to find without looking. I tested 2 other bluetooth headphones that were much less expensive and they held onto the signal for nearly 30 feet. They are around the ear style.
I probably would not wear them to the gym though due to size. By the way -- they do come with a detachable cord, in case you refer not to use Bluetooth when in airplane mode. One more tap and I was connected. I only have two cons regarding this new wireless version. Audio Technica has been in the high-end Stereo business since 1962.
I just wanted a pair of comfortable over-the-ear wireless headphones that isolate most but not all outside noise, sound good, don't get in my way and last for at least a good day between charges. Mids are decent, but to my ears the weakest point of the headphones. And if you have a larger than average head size, these puppies have a lot of adjustment built in. The ear cups feel like fake leather, but they are feel durable enough. It's not exaggerated with a heavy bass, it's just right and sounds really nice. Set up was simple, and fast. You would not be able to tell them apart other than one is wireless and the other is wired.
I might just be convinced to go wireless all the way around. The Playthrough Function lets you plug directly into your portable device and listen to your content, even if the battery is not charged. I'm looking forward to using them on my next plane trip. Most of the headphones are made of plastic but it also feels extremely durable and scratch resistant. They deliver a clear, intimate sound with great detail across all frequencies. And you can answer a call by tapping the left earpiece for voice controls.
Audio-Technica is well know to audiophiles as one of the first high fidelity manufacturers to build tone arms and phono cartridges. It's subtle, but enough for me to notice a difference. Excellent sizing, my noggin is big - and these fit just fine! Also there was a carrying case, micro-usb cable, 3. The headband was a little snug, but not tight and I never felt my head was squeezed. Then again these are bluetooth headphones, the cable is only for backup usage. Anyway, onto the good stuff. I have yet to kill the battery after a week! By buying this product you'll earn up to 200 Rewards points.
You are also provided a micro usb charging cable and an aux cable that is about 3 feet long which also has a microphone and controls. The build quality is outstanding! The professional-grade ear pads and headband pads offer comfort for many hours of continuous use. Flat frequency response from 15Hz to 28kHz. To me the wired version has slightly crisper highs and mids and less pronounced bass while the wireless version has more punchy bass and slightly less discernible mids and highs. After trying everything they had on display I ended up coming back to the these headphones and then the choice was simple.
I charge overnight, and use them during an 8-10 hour day. They are monitor headphones and as such, they have a very flat, natural sound. Just remember to try out any headphone, when possible, before buying. Build quality: Again, the trends of other Audio-Technica headphones follow here, not a bad thing. I would suggest doing it overnight. The earpads are comfortable, but they get too warm after being worn for a long time. Comfort is amazing, battery life is phenomenal, and the sound quality is perfect for my needs.
If that's not that important to you, it wasn't that uncomfortable, regardless. Also, the quick start guide didn't include anything about the cord. As part of the purchase you receive a leather bag that keeps them protected when they are transported in the bag pack. A fully-charged battery provides up to 40 hours of continuous music playback time. These headphones are closed back and have 45mm drivers they do a fairly decent job at blocking outside noise without the need for noise cancellation.
Everything I played through these units revealed new sublayers I'd never experienced before. I believe that some of the complaints I'm seeing on Audio Technica's website reviews regarding people no longer being able to connect to their headset that was already previously paired on a device is due to the fact that they don't realize they have it paired and connected to another bluetooth device and need to terminate the session before trying to connect it back to the original device. The pads on the cups feel very comfortable. By no way, shape, or form are they muddy, they just sound a bit crisper and metallic on the wired version which I do prefer. Summary: I am highly impressed, none of the problems I had lessened my enjoyment of these headphones one bit.
And that's a really good thing. Sound wise, they are good, but not great. Left handed people will love that. I honestly intend on deleting the app as soon as possible. The headphones provided great separation in the guitar sounds and her voice had some details I never heard before. On-board controls 3 buttons lets you play, pause, skip forward, or skip backward when listening to music, and raise and lower volume. As far as the build and finish this is not what you are paying for, the sound quality however is fantastic.
